| Its markings which resemble those of a snakeskin, give this small, relatively rare timber its name. Straight grain; fine, even texture; deep reddish-brown with irregular, horizontal black markings. Can be difficult to work with due to its hardness. Turns well and takes an excellent finish and high polish.
